Anne gains inspiration from many different areas. However the Earth from a geographer’s viewpoint is a recurring theme and takes many different forms.

Anne is also interested in the narrative journey of people in a place and time. Research leads to pieces that often incorporate the shape of clothing. Words and phrases will also be seen within this context as they are an important part of the narrative.

Working with the fabric is an inspiration in itself and so most of Anne’s work is hand-stitched. This makes each piece unique.

Living all her life in South London, Anne was a Primary School teacher for over 25 years.

She has had an interest in fabric and thread for as long as she can remember, sewing and knitting with her mother and grandmother. At secondary school one of her main subjects was dressmaking.

Since taking City & Guilds Embroidery Parts 1 and 2, Anne has gone on to take a degree in Embroidered Textiles. This in turn has led her to become a Licentiate of the Society of Designer Crafts and to exhibit and sell her work on a wider scale.
